Defeat Hindutva designs: CPM
Thiruvananthapuram: Expressing concern over attacks on Christians in different parts of the country, the Kerala unit of CPI(M) today asked all secular and democratic forces to come out strongly against the designs of the Hindutva forces 'to reap political gains by dividing people.'
"The hard Hindutva approach of the BJP as well as the soft communal appeasement policy of the Congress are responsible for the insecurity of minorities in Orissa, Karnataka and other parts of the country," CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said here today.
He said the ruling LDF viewed seriously the violence against churches reported from Kasaragod district, bordering Karnataka.
All those who believed in secular ethos of the nation should join hands with the Left parties in their efforts to defeat the 'heinous' plans of communal and divisive forces, Vijayan said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Janata Dal-S ( Surendra Mohan faction) sought the intervention of the national Human Rights Commission and Minority Commission to end violence against churches in Karnataka.
