What has motherhood taught you?
Behind many of the world’s success stories, you will find that the credit usually goes to the mother. This is because mothers play such a huge role in molding, teaching and loving their children. The value of a mother cannot be underestimated. Many of us today probably don’t see the sacrifice, love, endurance that went into making us the kind of people we are today- these ‘acts’ of love were mostly undertaken by our mothers. And perhaps we won’t truly understand until we reach heaven how our mother’s prayers made a huge difference as we combated through life.
We asked different mothers the question: “What has (being a mother) motherhood taught you?” We share their responses below in order to encourage other mothers and also to see what our mothers might have learned as they ‘grew us up’.
The most important role of a mother is to introduce her child to Jesus. The role of a mother is very important. Who will teach my child about God if I don’t and who will pray for him if I don’t.
I have realized that motherhood is not for lazy people. We need to really work hard. He updated in everything in order to understand young minds. We need to work on ourselves. Our children are the blueprint of what we are.
I love my child no matter how dirty or smelly he may be because he is my child. It is the same case with God. God loves us simply because we are his children.
I have also learned that I am helpless in raising children without God’s help.
Motherhood is a wondrous unique experience. It will try you to your limits, but it is all worth it.
I have learnt that prayer is the most necessary and important component of being a mother. Also I see that a mother really has to be flexible with her attitude, her behavior and with her needs.
In order to be a good mother, you need to be a good person. That means that my character should be one that could be modeled by my children. My values also have to be firmly placed- so that my children won’t doubt what has integrity and what does not.
A mother has to think about other people (her family) first- before herself at all times. She has to be selfless and sacrificing.
Being a mother is challenging and also something that can be filled with regrets. A mother has to be able and willing to go before God to receive his grace in order to carry on the great task of motherhood. |
