Eight days ago, Christians around the world celebrated another Easter Sunday. It was a great day for Evie and me as we again celebrated it on Abaca Island in the Bahamas. It was a busy day as I preached in three different locations there. And yes. I preached three different sermons. Many pastors would agree with me that Easter Sunday is their favorite day to preach. The Easter message is such a great message. Firstly, we preach the message that the resurrection of Jesus is truly A HISTORICAL FACT. Secondly, we preach that it is also a truly DYNAMIC ENERGIZING PRINCIPLE. Too often we fail to emphasize this second point.

Consequently Easter Sunday is too often 'just another Sunday.' The Sunday's celebration leaves no permanent change in our lives. What about that first Easter Sunday? Was there any lasting impact in the lives of the early Christians?

THE FOUR GOSPELS tell of the joy and excitement that captured the minds of His disciples and other followers.

THE BOOK OF ACTS indicates that the joy continued. It was evidenced in Peter who had a new joy and courage that wasn't present just a few weeks earlier when he denied three times that he even knew Jesus. The new Peter accepted suffering, persecution, and imprisonment with joy . . . he rejoiced because he had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name (Acts 5:40). He also became a dynamic preacher on the Dayal' Pentecost when 3.000 were converted. He was used of God to extend ministry into the lives of needy individuals, as seen in the healing of the crippled beggar as recorded in Acts 3.
