Christians attacked in Punjab Punjab police detained 12 Christians including five women after Hindu extremists allegedly from the Bajrang Dal filed a compliant against them of forceful conversion on 10 July in Islamabad, Gurdaspur. The incident took place at about 9 a.m. when the extremists opposed to the Christians visiting some people home in Islamabad Mohalla. The extremists started an argument with the Christians, verbally the Christians of their faith, beat them up with their shoes and fists and took them to the police station. The extremists swelled up at the police station and pressured the police to file a case against the Christians. However, area Christian leaders also massed up at the police station demanding the release of the Christians. Station House Officer of Gurdaspur Gurpinder Singh told EFI that the Christians were released without charges in the evening. |
